Built by Kanuni Sultan Suleyman in memory of his son, Prince (sehzade)
Mehmet, who had died in his early youth, this kulliye is composed of a mosque, a
medrese, a primary school, a refectory, a double guesthouse, a kervansaray and
tombs. Its buildings are freely spread out on a flat terrain, with no special
care for symmetry or geometric effect. They do not form a whole with the mosque,
but are situated outside the walls surrounding the large mosque garden or across
a street.
